CEBU, Philippines - Police arrested a Level 2 drug pusher after he yielded over P150,000 worth of shabu in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Liburon, Carcar City last Friday afternoon.
Operatives of the Regional Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group-7 arrested the suspect Amador Ybañez and his accomplice Eric Navarrete.
Ybañez was seized with four medium-sized packs of shabu, each worth P25,000 while two same packs and four smaller packs of shabu, each amounting to P300, were seized from Navarrete.
Inspector Joey Bicoy, who led the operation, described Ybañez as a Level 2 drug pusher who can sell at least 200 grams of shabu every week.
Bicoy said an informant tipped them of the suspect’s rampant illegal drug selling in their area, which they confirmed after conducting a three-day surveillance.
The transaction was consummated outside the suspect’s house in Sitio Lomboy and through a police decoy, Ybañez was arrested at 4 p.m.
The suspect tried to run but was eventually arrested by police.
At his house, police caught Navarrete allegedly repacking shabu.
Also recovered were drug paraphernalia and P2,780 cash believed to be proceeds of the illegal drug peddling.
Bicoy said Ybañez admitted during questioning that he sells shabu and said he resorted to it out of poverty. He also allegedly inherited the “business†from his family.
A charge for violation of the Section 5, 11, and 12 of the Republic Act 9165 also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against the suspects tomorrow. (FREEMAN)
