CEBU, Philippines - A police intelligence officer warned third district Rep. Gwendolyn Garcia and daughter, Christina Garcia Codilla-Frasco about an assassination plot against them.
Garcia’s staff received a text message about the threat yesterday asking her to inform the congresswoman about it.
Report disclosed that a meeting about the plot was held Thursday afternoon in a mountain barangay of Tuburan, part of the third congressional district.
Early yesterday morning, three women reportedly posed as customers at Titay’s Rosquillos in Liloan town, which is owned by the family of Christina’s husband, Mayor Vincent Franco “Duke†Frasco.
“Ayaw pakompiyansaha Atty. Naay tulo ka babaye gagmay, di katouhan pero amazona daw, ingon amo info,†the text message said.
The text sender assured that he would be meeting Garcia soon as they knew each other well but he refused to identify himself this time for his security also.
“Basta ingna lang congresswoman Gwen ug Atty. Cristina, di magkompiyansa sa mga tawo nakapalibot nila, kunting ingat,†the message said.
The message also suggested to check the loyalty of their bodyguards as there is a plan to pay someone to carry out the assassination plot.
This is not yet recorded in the police blotter but Christina said she and her mother will issue a statement soon.
“As indicated in the text, the source is a policeman. Therefore, the source is a police source. At this point, since the police are aware there is no need for a blotter,†Frasco told The Freeman.
Christina is among the counsels of her mother in the administrative and criminal charges filed against Gwendolyn when she was governor.
Gwendolyn was suspended for six months since December 19, 2012 until June 17, 2013, days before her third term as governor ended on June 30. (FREEMAN)
