Customs honors top 10 importers, exporters

CEBU, Philippines - The top official of the Bureau of Customs in Cebu has appealed to all port stakeholders for their continued support and assistance, as it honored its top exporters, importers, individuals and government agencies.

BOC-Cebu district collector Edward dela Cuesta also appealed to port stakeholders to pay correct taxes.

“We have to work hand in hand for the good of our country,” said dela Cuesta in his speech during the 127th Founding Anniversary of BOC-Cebu the other day.

Dela Cuesta said he is currently faced with a big challenge to find a new home for the bureau because they have been asked by the Cebu Ports Authority to vacate their building.

“This is one challenge that has to be immediately addressed. We have to have a physical structure for us to function well. We have to be together in facing this challenge,” dela Cuesta added.

The BOC-Cebu awarded the top ten importers and exporters during the occasion. The awardees are Kepco-SPC Power Corporation, Steel Asia Manufacturing Corporation, Seaoil Philippines Inc., TWA Incorporated, CMK Trading, Tridherma Marketing Corporation, Carmen Copper Corporation, Apo Cement Corporation, Maxima Machineries Inc. and Cebu Energy Development Corporation.

The top ten exporters include Profood International Corporation, Specialty Pulp Manufacturing Inc., Carmen Copper Corporation, FMC Phils. Inc., Shemberg Marketing Inc., CP Kelco Phils. Corporation, Dedon Manufacturing Inc., 7D Food Industry, Philippine Mining Services Corporation and PEBA Trading and Manufacturing Corporation.

The other top ten exporters at the Mactan Export Processing Zone are Tsuneishi Heavy Industries, SEAP Mitsumi Inc, Lear Automotive Services, Pentax Cebu Phils. Corporation, Pentax Ricoh Imaging, Muramoto, Fairchild Semiconductor Phils., Taiyo Yuden, Teradyne Phils., Inc. and Funai Electric Cebu.—(FREEMAN)
