NLE topnotchers from Mandaue to receive cash incentives

CEBU, Philippines - Provincial Board Member Thadeo Ouano is set to give financial incentives to his two constituents who topped the June 2013 Nursing Licensure Examination.

The financial incentive shall be taken from his Legislative Assistance Fund.

Ouano has set aside P25,000 for Beverly Anne Felicio Balagon of Barangay Canduman and P15,000 for Mae Amor Naingue Desabille of Barangay Cambaro, both from Mandaue City.

Last Monday, the PB passed the resolution sponsored by Ouano commending Balagon, who placed number one, and Desabille, who placed sixth, in the said licensure examination.

The Professional Regulations Commission announced last July 8, 2013 the results of the June 2013 NLE where a total number of 16,219 out of 37,887 or 42.81 percent passed the exam conducted by the Board of Nursing.

“Passing the board exam gives a feeling of euphoria and satisfaction, but unutterable and indescribable feeling is due to a board exam top notcher,” Ouano said.

Ouano said that Balagon, 20, from Velez College, a resident of Barangay Canduman, Mandaue City, emerged to be the best among the cream of the crop, garnering an average score of 87 percent.

Balagon is the elder of two sisters. Her mother, Maria Victoria, is a dermatologist and her father, Bambi Ceferino Balagon, is an engineer.

Desabille, born and raised in Barangay Cambaro, Mandaue City, graduated from the University of the Philippines - Manila and made it to the top six with an average of 85.60 percent.

“Due recognition should be given in order to set an example for those who has a strong desire for achievement and eventually excel in their aspirations and a financial incentive to inspire other graduates to strive harder and to fire-up their desires to be on the top and claim the feat to be one of Cebu’s best,” Ouano added.  (FREEMAN)
