PRO-7 revamp affects 77 police officials

CEBU, Philippines - The Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 will implement a major revamp as part of its Human Resource Development Program affecting at least 77 police officials, 61 have the rank of senior inspector and 16 are inspectors.

PRO 7 Director Chief Supt. Marcelo Garbo said they already planned to implement the revamp even before the May elections but had to defer it because they focused on their election preparations.

“Now, we are free to implement the study we have conducted regarding the program,” Garbo said in a press conference.

Based on the data of the PRO-7, 14 officials are from the Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO), 13 are from the Bohol Provincial Police Office (BPPO), 10 are from the Negros Oriental Provincial Police Office (NOPPO), nine are from the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office (LLCPO), six are from the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO), and two are from the Siquijor Provincial Police Office (SPPO).

They are only the first batch as the revamp will be made in three batches.

Also affected in the change of assignments are those who exceeded three-year term in their respective positions.

“This is to give respective officers an idea what Region 7 really is and a good policy for us to professionalize the police officers,” Garbo said.

Garbo further said that the localization program of the PNP is only suitable for Police Non-Commissioned Officer (PNCO) and not for police officials.

In another development, Deputy Regional Director for Administration, Chief Supt. Samuel Yordan, has been transferred to the Camp Crame as Director of the Headquarters Service Support Group.

However, the higher headquarters has not designated an official to replace Yordan.

“There are candidates but we are yet to receive the official order,” Garbo said.  (FREEMAN)
