CEBU, Philippines - Two persons, including a barangay tanod, were shot dead yesterday morning in Argao and Danao City, respectively.
Richard Oyangoren, barangay tanod of Anahaw, was on his way to Isidro Kintanar Memorial Hospital to bring his wife who was allegedly suffering from nervous breakdown when he got shot by an unidentified person in Barangay Apo, Argao at 1 a.m. yesterday
Oyangoren succumbed to two gunshot wounds in the head. He was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
PO2 Brian Yosores of the Argao police station said that Oyangoren was on duty as barangay tanod when he was radioed by his colleague about the condition of his wife.
Oyangoren went home to bring his wife to the hospital. The victim reportedly asked a passenger multicab of his neighbor to transport his wife to the hospital while he was following on a motorcycle.
However, the victim was gunned down while tailing the multicab transporting his wife.
Police recovered two empty shells and two slugs of a caliber .45 pistol.
Police are still conducting investigation to determine the motive of the killing.
In another incident, a former security guard was shot dead by his nephew while gathering fire woods in Barangay Guinsay, Danao City.
Police believed that personal grudge could be the motive behind the shooting to death of Venancio Avila, 69.
Initial investigation shows that Avila had earlier punched his nephew, Danilo Batulan, 35, over an unpaid debt.
PO2 John Bensi, desk officer, said Avila was gathering fire wood when Batulan shot him in the chest.
Avila was taken to the Danao Provincial Hospital but died before he reached to the hospital.
Batulan was immediately arrested and is now detained at the Danao City police stockade pending filing of appropriate case in court. FPL (FREEMAN)
