CEBU, Philippines - Two brothers were arrested by joint operatives of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and the Special Warfare Group (SWAG) of Navy during a raid in Barangay Guadalupe yesterday morning.
Brothers Arman and Michael Cavan were found in possession of four large packs of shabu worth between P350,000 to P400,000 and several drug paraphernalia. Aside from the Cavan brothers 12 others were invited by the NBI operatives for questioning.
NBI-7 director Antonio Pagatpat said the raid was conducted on strength of a search warrant issued by Executive Judge Silvestre Maamo of the Regional Trial Court in Cebu City.
Agent Bernard Dela Cruz said that based on their investigation the Cavan siblings are considered big time pushers in Sitio Banawa. They are allegedly capable of disposing at least 100 grams of shabu every week.
Dela Cruz said they conducted two and a half months of surveillance operations before the raid. The suspects refused to comment on their arrest.
The two are currently detained at the NBI detention cell pending the filing of the criminal complaints for violation of Sections 11 and 12 of Republic Act 9165 otherwise known as Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.— /FPL (FREEMAN)
