No UNA candidates confirmed for today

CEBU, Philippines - Team Rama has not confirmed if any senatorial candidate from their national ally, the United Nationalist Alliance, will attend today’s rally, saying these candidates are busy with their individual and group campaign trails around the country.

“When I organized this rally, I told my team that this should not be dependent on our national counterpart because they have bigger things to worry about,” Team Rama chairman Mayor Michael Rama told reporters.

But he stressed that they would deeply appreciate their presence because they accepted them in their party.

“Had it not been for UNA, we would have been running as independent candidates,” Rama said recalling how the Liberal Party chose Bando Osmeña Pundok Kauswagan over them.

At the same time, Rama emphasized that they cannot expect an attendance from their national counterpart because all of them have long scheduled their campaign trail.

“Hilas sad kaayo mi nga mo-demand from them. We just hope that they will come. Anyways, if they don’t come ang actor man sad ani kay ang katawhan man,” he said.

Rama also did not confirm attendance from the Kugi Uswag Sugbo (KUSUG) party led by its chairman emeritus former mayor Alvin Garcia and the present chairman Raymond Garcia.

Despite their endorsement of mostly Team Rama candidates, Rama reiterated the two parties are independent from each other.

“Lahi na sila nga grupo. Ato silang tagaan ug independence. Abi kay nag-endorse sila sa among candidates mo-ingon na sila nga usa ra mi. Let us give them the liberty to attend or otherwise,” Rama said, admitting he would be glad if they grace their event.

Apart from hearing speeches from candidates, Team Rama promises an evening of entertainment at the Plaza Independencia starting at 7 p.m.

“Mga 30 minutes ra ang mga diskurso ana. The rest kay lingaw-lingaw na. Kay panagtagbo baya ni sa mga Sugbuanon. Annabelle said she will bring stars to entertain the Cebuanos,” Rama added, referring to her cousin, talent manager Annabelle Rama, who is also running for the city’s north district seat.   (FREEMAN)
