CEBU, Philippines - Days after Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama threatened to file charges against the Metro Cebu Water District for destroying newly-repaired road in Barangay Talamban and Bacayan, officials of the water utility firm yesterday announced that the road has been restored by their contractor.
MCWD assistant general manager Ernie Delco said they did not only restore but improved the road.
“Gipaspasan namo pag-ayo og karon pwerte na g’yud nga nindota sa karsada,†Delco said.
Delco said he was directed by MCWD chairman Rene Mercado to personally supervise the restoration of the road following the complaint of Rama.
MCWD corporate manager for communications Charmaine Rodriguez said that the digging along the road in Talamban, Pit-os and Bacayan is part of their P54 million pipe-laying project to provide potable water supply in the three barangays.
Mercado said MCWD is implementing water expansion project because of the new subdivisions in that area.
Mercado agreed to Rama’s observation in other countries that projects that require diggings of the road are done at night time and should be completed before daybreak.
“Sa Makati City ingon ana ang ilang gihimo nga ang proyekto himoon sa gabii og inigkabuntag dili na makabantay ang mga motorista ug dili makahasol kanila,†said Mercado.
Mercado said he will advise their contractors to ensure that their projects will not hamper the flow of traffic. — (FREEMAN)
