CEBU, Philippines - Three kids aged eight, five and ten died after they drowned in separate incidents in the towns of Tabuelan, Sta. Fe and Toledo City.
Larry Agudo, 8, of Barangay Kantuba-on, Tabuelan was found floating in the seawaters of Sitio Kamsinon, Barangay Olivo at 9:00 last Saturday morning.
Agudo was with his relatives and his 10-year-old brother, Len John Agudo, when the incident happened.
PO3 Gilbert Allego, desk officer, said that Agudo and his relatives were swimming in the beach when the victim was left unattended.
Agudo, who was unable to swim, was taken by the current into a deeper portion of the water causing him to drown.
Allego said that nobody seemed to notice the victim until they found him floating lifeless.
In another incident, a kid drowned while swimming with friends in a public beach resort in Sitio Tingtingon, Barangay Marikaba, Sta. Fe.
John Ivan Isgana, 5, a resident of the said barangay, was swimming with his friends around midday when he suddenly disappeared.
Isgana’s friends tried to look for him but failed until his body was found floating by a fisherman, Brendo Pasiño, at 1:00 p.m. Saturday.
Isgana was rushed to the Bantayan District Hospital but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.
Meanwhile, a ten-year-old Hans Cajocson, of Sitio Bawod, Barangay Magdugo, Toledo City was found floating at the Udlom River in the said barangay. Cajocson went swimming in the river around 2:30 p.m. Friday with his neighbors and friends when he suddenly disappeared.
PO1 Emmanuel Aragon, desk officer, said that one of the victim’s companions was making a headcount when he noticed that Cajocson was gone.
Residents of the place exerted effort in conducting a search and found the victim unconscious. They rushed the victim to the Toledo City Hospital but he was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician. (FREEMAN)
