Rama to meet with Agnes soon

CEBU, Philippines - The Fuente Osmeña Circle rehabilitation project seems to have moved a few steps forward.

Acting governor Agnes Magpale expressed interest to discuss the matter with the city amid ownership woes between the two local government units.

Cebu City Mayor Michael earlier told reporters that he is willing to sit down with the Capitol and businessman Michel Lhuillier who wanted to finance the project, despite a pending conflict as to who owns the historic icon of Cebu that was established to signal the opening of a water system in Cebu a hundred years ago.

“Very good! I’m so happy,” exclaimed Rama upon learning that Magpale is willing to talk with the city government.

He immediately told his secretary to set an appointment with Magpale saying “I will take the initiative and we will invite them for a meeting.”

In the meeting, Rama hopes to find answers if the rehabilitation program can push through even with the pending case on ownership.

The mayor was delighted to hear about the development on the planned Fuente Osmeña Circle rehabilitation, despite belonging to opposing political party.

“Politics should never be a hindrance to heritage preservation. Magkasinabot man ming Agnes (Magpale) basta heritage preservation na ang hisgutan,” Rama said.

Asked if he will permit a co-management, he said this is “not yet pursued.” (FREEMAN)
