CEBU, Philippines - A 60-year-old man was shot dead by two unidentified men on board a motorcycle while he was heading home last Thursday in Barangay Bae, Sibonga town.
Rosalio Applicador Mistrallas, of Barangay Manatad, succumbed to two gunshot wounds to the face and back.
He was rushed to the Carcar Provincial Hospital but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.
Mistrallas was with his two companions Rosendo Cabal and Henry Gripo, who was the driver of the Sunriser motorcycle they were riding.
They reportedly came from a fiesta celebration in a nearby sitio and were on the national road heading to Barangay Manatad with Mistrallas seated behind Cabal.
Upon reaching a crossing bordering barangays Mompeller, Argao and Bae two unidentified men with their T-shirts over their faces suddenly appeared from behind and shot at the victim twice using a gun of undetermined caliber.
Assailants fled towards Barangay Argao town right after the incident.
Police are eyeing personal grudge as possible motive behind the incident.
“Posible nasuyaan ni kay usahay ug naa ni kwarta mamangka man ni sa bukid,†said SPO1 Bernard Otida of the Sibonga Police Station.
Otida added they are still investigating the incident to determine the real motive behind the shooting and for the identification of the assailants.
The body of the victim was taken to the Cosmopolitan Funeral Homes for autopsy. (FREEMAN)
