CEBU, Philippines - After days of rains, better weather condition is expected in Cebu and Central Visayas over the weekend, local state weather bureau said.
“Cloudy, sunny periods, windy by Saturday and Sunday then light to moderate rainshowers at times heavy on Monday night until Tuesday,†Philippines Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Service Administration (PAGASA) Mactan’s weather forecast read.
PAGASA Mactan chief Oscar Tabada told The FREEMAN that the weakened northeast monsoon caused the easterly wave to prevail resulting to several days of rain.
But the rains could come back next week due to a low pressure area (LPA).
“Overcast with light rains becoming moderate to heavy in afternoon or evening of Monday until Tuesday afternoon due to the LPA south of Mindanao,†Tabada added.
He, however, said there is a slim chance for this weather system to develop into a typhoon.
“There is only 40% chance that this low pressure area becomes a tropical cyclone. But if it does, it’s most likely to become one on Monday,†the PAGASA chief said.
Cebu and Central Visayas seas are expected to be slight to moderate. (FREEMAN)
