CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu Provincial Government under the leadership of Acting Governor Agnes Magpale has released the maiden issue of its new official publication, Cebu Monthly.
Printed in full color and glossy type of paper, the publication is named replaced Sugbo News, which was established by suspended Governor Gwendolyn Garcia.
The 36-page magazine bears the theme “Unconditional Love†featuring the Sinulog 2013 activities last month.
In the editorial section, it states that limitless love was displayed by the Cebuanos and only in Cebu can it happen where millions pay homage to the Sto. Niño.
“The maiden issue of Cebu Monthly, the official publication of the Province of Cebu, is the fruit of our love and labor for the Cebuano,†said Magpale in her message section.
“After burning thousands of midnight candles, we have once again proved our naysayers wrong,†she added.
Magpale expressed her gratitude to Provincial Board Member Arleigh Jay Sitoy for his initiative and foresight provided for the foundation of the publication.
The first 1,000 copies were personally paid by Sitoy in preparation for its formal launching on February 21 together with the airing of “Cebu TV Ato Ni†replacing Sugbo TV, which was also established by Garcia.
“We are trying to review how it was managed before and we came up with a scheme that is not detrimental to the public, detrimental to the funds,†Sitoy said.
From 60,000 copies during the time of Garcia, Sitoy said 30,000 copies will suffice at present.
New TV shows will also be introduced during the formal launching next week.
“It’s going to reflect the new vision of our acting governor, the new horizon that she is being confronted with and the new frontiers that she is supposed to hurdle despite the limited span of time that she is going to serve the Province of Cebu as governor,†Sitoy said.
The new publication and the new television show form part of the establishment of the Provincial Information Office. (FREEMAN)
