CEBU, Philippines - The Central Visayas Regional Development Council (RDC) has named the representatives of the Metro Cebu Development Coordinating Board (MCDCB) to the body.
To represent to the RDC Full Council is Roberto Aboitiz who is the co-chairperson of the MCDCB.
Other members of MCDCB to represent in the RDC sectoral committees are Engr. Fortunato Sanchez Jr. for infrastructure development; Dominica Chua for social development; Gordon Alan Joseph for economic development; and Fernando Fajardo for development administration.
The RDC approved the membership of MCDCB in the full council as special non-voting member and in the sectoral committees.
The RDC earlier passed a resolution recognizing the MCDCB as a special body formed to look after the concerns of Metro Cebu.
The MCDCB, chaired by Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia, then requested the RDC to include the board as its member.
Executive Order No. 325 series of 1996 defines the regular members of the RDC and until the EO is amended, the membership of the RDC cannot be expanded to include additional members.
While the same EO provides for special non-voting members of the RDC, it cited to be more viable option at this time for participation of the MCDCB.
The Implementing Rules and Regulations of said EO also provides for the procedures and criteria for the designation of special non-voting members which include their nomination by the RDC executive committee and or RDC sectoral committee.
The Development Administration Committee endorsed the nomination of MCDCB as special non-voting member of the RDC. —/JPM (FREEMAN)
