Another Durano files COC

CEBU, Philippines -  Another Durano clan member is seeking an elective position in the Province of Cebu this coming 2013 elections while the vice mayor of Bantayan withdrew her candidacy for reelection.

Ramon “Monching” Durano V, Barangay Captain of Poblacion, Danao City filed his certificate of candidacy for Provincial Board Member of the fifth district under One Cebu Party yesterday.

Monching, 49, substituted Remar Degamo of Liloan town who filed his COC last October.

He was accompanied by his cousin, vice gubernatorial candidate Ramon “Boboy” Durano IV and One Cebu fifth district chairman, Liloan Mayor Vincent Franco “Duke” Frasco, who signed Monching’s Certificate of Nomination and Acceptance.

Monching is running against his cousins, incumbent PB Members Jude Thaddeus Durano-Sybico and Miguel Antonio Magpale.

Monching is the son of former Danao City Mayor Jesus “Don” Durano.

Meanwhile, Bantayan Vice Mayor Geralyn Escario-Cañares withdrew her candidacy for reelection under National Unity Party (NUP), an ally of One Cebu Party.

She is substituted by her eldest son, Chad Kenneth Escario-Cañares.

Incumbent Mayor Christopher Ian Escario and Cañares are running unopposed in the 2013 election.

Bogo City mayoral candidate Mariquita Salimbangon-Yeung also withdrew her candidacy and was replaced by her niece, Daphne Salimbangon,  daughter of 4th district Rep. Benhur Salimbangon.

Daphne is the new opponent of the incumbent mayor Celestino “Junie” Martinez Jr.

“I want to focus my old age only to my family, especially my grandson. The only service I want to do for the people is through my charity work,” Yeung, founder of the MSY Charitable Foundation, said in a text message sent to The FREEMAN.  (FREEMAN)
