Hospital patient loses belongings to thief

CEBU, Philippines - Even hospitals are not spared by thieves.

This time, another victim lost her belongings while inside a hospital in Barangay Capitol Site last Wednesday afternoon.

Raul Cambalon, 51, was busy attending to his sick wife, Eleanor Cambalon, 58, and failed to notice that someone has taken her bag.

Investigation showed that Raul was assisting his wife, who was on a wheelchair, in going to the comfort room just beside the laboratory when they noticed that the shoulder bag that was placed on the side of the wheelchair was already missing.

The couple, who were residents of Barangay Lawaan I, Talisay City, tried looking for the green shoulder bag but to no avail.

The bag reportedly contained Eleanor’s medicines; P10,000 cash; cellular phone worth P2,000; assorted jewelry pieces amounting to P3,000; and cards.

Just last Tuesday, a homosexual was also arrested after he was caught on security camera in the act of stealing the bag of a patient at the Cebu Doctors Hospital.

Suspect Ronald Zamayla, 28, would enter the rooms of the patients and introduce himself as their relative, before stealing their valuables.

Two hours later, two tenants also lost their cash and valuables to burglars who barged inside their apartment in Urgello St., Barangay Sambag Uno.

Victims Nice Sarabo-sing, 21, and Patrick Maluya, 28, who shared the same apartment, went to their respective rooms after taking a walk only to find their belongings missing.

Ocular investigation conducted by the police showed that the burglar was able to enter the victims’ rooms by destroying the door padlocks.

Sarabosing, a native of Dawis, Bohol, lost P27,000 cash including her supposed payment for the rent and the P2,000 left by a friend.

Maluya, a native of General Santos City, lost two laptops, a camera, and two high-end phones.

Police have lifted latent finger prints from the rooms to possibly identify the burglars, who were believed to be just residents near the place.  (FREEMAN)
