CEBU, Philippines - First district Rep. Eduardo “Eddigul” Gullas yesterday endorsed the standard bearers of One Cebu Party before all the 21 barangay captains of San Fernando.
Gullas, along with his grandson, unopposed congressional aspirant Gerald Anthony “Samsam” Gullas, brought the barangay captains of San Fernando to Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia yesterday to signify his all out support for third district Rep. Pablo John “PJ” Garcia and his runningmate Ramon “Boboy” Durano, IV.
Also present in the meeting at the Capitol were Deputy Speaker Pablo Garcia; Provincial Board Members Julian Daan and Sergio Restauro.
Eddigul said that the 21 barangay captains are the reasons why Samsam is unopposed in the coming 2013 elections because they requested San Fernando Mayor Antonio Canoy not to run for congress.
Both Gullas and the Garcias are supporting former mayor Lakambini Reluya for mayor in San Fernando.
Rumors have been circulating that the barangay captains of San Fernando have been neglected prompting the Gullas to bring them to the Capitol.
The governor showed to the barangay captains the records of projects that were implemented in different barangays of San Fernando since she assumed office in 2004.
Under her administration, the provincial government has already asphalted more than 20 kilometers of roads worth P78 million; 13 units of two-classroom building worth P9.4 million; financial assistance to all barangays amounting to P6.8 million; bridges, water system, 15,480 bags of cement, multicabs and several other projects.
The governor also turned over P100,000 each to the 21 barangays and other financial assistance from the offices of Daan and Restauro amounting to P2.3 million.
Alfonso Donaire, the president of the Association of Barangay Councils, said that they were never forgotten by the governor contrary to rumors.
Governor Garcia thanked Gullas for the endorsement. (FREEMAN)
