CEBU, Philippines — Vintage cars that took part in this year’s “Tour de Cebu” classic sports car rally were the stars of a unique gathering held on November 15 – giving Cebuanos a preview of the more than 35 vintage vehicles that were participating in this year’s event.
Displayed at the main parking area of Montebello Garden Hotel, classic rigs like a 1959 Porsche 356A, a 1965 Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint and a beautifully restored Volkswagen Karmann-Ghia were among the many exotic cars on display.
Kicking-off on November 16 and ending on November 18, the route of this year’s annual regularity rally traversed through the roads of Tubigon, Bohol.
Now on its 5th year, the rally tasked its participants to navigate through roads to reach checkpoints at pre-defined times – not necessarily to get to checkpoints at the fastest times possible.
As the only 1,000-kilometer vintage car rally in this part of the country, drivers from different parts of the Philippines participated in the event where their navigational accuracy and time-keeping skills were put to the test. (YRST)
