CEBU, Philippines - The Freeman and Banat News and Mr. Leo Lastimosa of ABS-CBN’s DYAB once again holds the JRG Halad Pasalamat on Saturday, January28, at the Gullas Medical Center in Banilad, Mandaue City.
Founder Jose “Dodong” Gullas and wife Nena invite all Cebuanos to avail of free medical, dental, alternative and non-medical services in this seventh holding of the annual outreach event.
The free services offered this year include Medical Consultations, pediatric and adult; Dermatologic Consultation; Women’s Health Services such as OB-GYNE consultation, cervical cancer screening and pre-natal services; Surgical Services like circumcision and minor surgeries; Free Screening for HIV, Leprosy and Schistosomiasis; Random Blood Sugar and Cholesterol Level Testing; Electrocardiogram (ECG) and Pneumococcal Immunization, Dental Services such as flouride treatment, dental cleaning, dental filling, tooth extraction and dental education; Eye Care Services such as eye examination, visual and cataract examination; De-worming for children; and Veterinary Services including vaccination of cats and dogs, anti-rabies vaccination, de-worming, with free vitamin supplements and consultation.
The non-medical services include cooking demonstrations, legal consultation, job referral services, free haircut, manicure and pedicure, acupuncture and foot reflexology, as well as livelihood workshops like herbal medicine preparation, detergent and dishwashing-liquid making and self-defense demonstration.
Government agencies such as the PSA (formerly NSO), NBI, PhilHealth, GSIS, Pag-ibig, SSS, LTO and DSWD are setting up help desks during the event on Saturday, while TESDA Provincial Office is offering free “hilot” massage and computer and cell phone repair services. The Philippine National Red Cross is also joining in to conduct bloodletting activity. As in the past Halad events, The Freeman and Banat News are sponsoring a feeding activity.
Dental screening is conducted from January 23 to 27, from 9 to 11 a.m. and from 2 to 4 p.m., at the Dental Infirmary of the UV College of Dentistry, at the Gullas Medical Center in Banilad.
Also part of this year’s JRG Foundation Halad activities is the Halad Mass Confirmation on Thursday, January 26, at the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral. Those who have not received the Sacrament of Confirmation are enjoined to avail of this religious service for free. There’s also the launching of the Halad Livelihood Program at select depressed barangays in the city on Saturday, January 28, and the Halad Adoption from the Heart on February 18, in line with the Adoption Consciousness Week celebration.
Dodong Gullas expresses his profound gratitude to all Halad partners, both private and government agencies, who have been supporting this annual activity that has already benefited thousands of Cebuanos. He also acknowledges the support of his wife Nena.
