CEBU, Philippines – The inaugural run of the "Bisita sa Parian" (Visit to Parian) walking tour took place Friday last week, September 11, as one of the many highlights of the "Lakbay Lingaw" tourism initiative of the Cebu City Tourism Commission (CCTC).
Launched this month by the CCTC, "Lakbay Lingaw" focuses on the different tourist spots, places of interest, adventure trails and heritage sites that are located within the bounds of the city - aptly positioning Cebu City as the province's gateway to a thousand journeys.
Last Friday's "Bisita sa Parian" featured reenactments of historic milestones, eskrima (arnis) demonstrations, and tartanilla rides among others. Guided tours to the galleries and exhibits at the Yap-Sandiego Ancestral House and the Museo Parian sa Sugbo (popularly referred to as the 1730 Jesuit House) top-billed the event.
The participants also sampled local specialties and delicacies that were made available at the recently opened Café Rafael of the Yap-Sandiego Ancestral House.
As a tourism event, "Bisita sa Parian" joins the ranks of the "Highland Tours of Cebu," "Suroy-Suroy Sugbo" and others. More information on CCTC's tour offerings and upcoming events are available on www.cebucitytourism.com.
