A Really Festive Chinese New Year Celebration

CEBU, Philippines – Traditional performances, delectable feasts, and a grand fireworks display are just three features that made the Chinese New Year celebrations at Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino really impressive.

Guests of Honor for the ceremonial dotting of the lions' eyes were socialite Amparito Lhuillier of the M. Lhuillier Group of Companies; Mandaue City Councilor Lollipop Ouano-Dizon; and Mary Anne Alcordo-Solomon of Alcordo Advertising International Corporation, who is also Breast Cancer Awareness Advocate and Rotary International District 3860 Governor for 2016-2017.

The Wushu Federation of the Philippines-Cebu provided traditional performances - an exhilarating lion and dragon dance, which the guests, be it children or adults, enjoyed a lot. The excitement peaked with the most eagerly anticipated event of the night, the hotel's annual "Fire in the Sky" celebration, a music-synchronized fireworks display by the country's multi-awarded fireworks company, Dragon Fireworks. Cebu Governor Hilario Davide III was the guest of honor in igniting the Grand Fireworks Display that ended the festivities with a bang.

The Grand Lobby's main display, a Wooden Sheep inside a heart-shaped velvet box, incorporates the Love Month and the Year of the Sheep merriments which are both celebrated in February this year. Also, the Lobby Lounge trees were decorated with Chinese lanterns and Ang Paos, while lighted cherry blossoms lined the façade of Tin Gow, the hotel's premier Chinese restaurant.

Everyone had a great time and were already looking forward to next year's Chinese New Year celebration at Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino. Kung Hei Fat Choi!
