CEBU, Philippines - Cebu Centre for Dance is doing a ballet adaptation of James Lapine & Stephen Sondheim's beloved Broadway Musical, "Into the Woods". This modern fairy tale has captured the hearts of Broadway enthusiasts everywhere and has even inspired Hollywood to make a movie adaptation of the same title. Playing the lead role of Cinderella is guest artist Kris-belle Mamangun, a very accomplished dancer & choreographer. She was a principal dancer of Ballet Philippines and has performed internationally in Disneyland and with Cirque de Soleil. The riveting role of the "Witch" will be portrayed by guest artist Marlinda Angbetic-Tan, a veteran thespian and The Freeman's Lifestyle Editor.
"Into the Woods" tells the story of a Baker & his Wife's journey into the woods as they try to seek the four items ( a cape as red as blood, a cow as white as snow, hair as yellow as corn & a slipper as clear as glass) to bring back to the Witch so she can lift the curse she cast on them.
"Into the Woods" is co-presented by SM City Cebu and will be performed at SM Cinema 1 6:00 pm December 7, 2013. The show is directed by Penelop Ong, choreographed by Baby Cabaero, Dr. Mary Poblete-Chan & Johanna Mangubat, and produced by Allen Arvin Tan.
