Awaited ‘Gameboys The Movie’ out on July 30

The World Gameboys Day celebration which marked the first anniversary of “Gameboys,” the first Pinoy BL series that captured the fancy of viewers, trended on Twitter last Saturday.

Gameboys fans from all over the world joined the celebration via The Idea First Company’s YouTube channel, and together with the cast members — Kokoy de Santos, Elijah Canlas, Adriana So, Kyle Velino, Miggy Jimenez and Kych Minemoto — they looked back on the amazing journey of the well-loved BL series whose pandemic-set story touched the hearts of many.

The World Gameboys Day Celebration had a lot of surprises like Kokoy singing the show’s theme song and Elijah doing an impromptu rap, aside from presenting a music video.

The celebration lasted more than three hours but it was well worth it as fans welcomed the good news announced by director Perci Intalan at the end of the celebration.

The movie version of Gameboys will be shown on July 30, and the trailer instantly gained reactions from fans.

It would be nice if fans can watch the film in cinemas as we follow the unique love story of Gavreel and Cairo. But we can’t be sure if cinemas will be allowed to open by that time. It’s also a good idea to stream the movie via KTX.ph so that the excitement of CaiReel, Pearl, Terrence, Wesley and Achilles fans will be met.

The trailer served notice of the good chemistry and acting of the lead stars, the crisp cinematography of Carlo Mendoza, the presence of Tita Susan (representing the ways and beliefs of the elder generation) and many questions on why Gavreel wailed at the trailer’s end.

Aside from the movie, fans should also watch the seven-episode series of Gameboys that will be shown in the Heart of Asia channel of GMA. This is a different edit from the original Gameboys series shown last year since there are commercial breaks.

As Kokoy and Elijah said, even if they had given everything story-wise in season 1, the movie has a different story. Same with season 2 that will be shown after the movie’s release.

We just wish that the movie will have a happy ending for Gavreel and Cairo. We hope that director Ivan Andrew Payawal will not make fans cry with the ending.

This early, we would like to congratulate Idea First for Gameboys The Movie. We believe they have a winner and a sure hit.
