CEBU, Philippines — After Jukebox Queen Claire dela Fuente’s passing last month, another OPM icon has died due to COVID-19 complications.
Singer-actor Victor Wood, 75, breathed his last 9 a.m. today at the New Era General Hospital in Quezon City, said an ABS-CBN report.
Famous during the ‘70s, Wood was dubbed Jukebox King and Plaka King for lending his voice to the songs “In Despair,” “Mr. Lonely,” “I’m Sorry My Love,” “I Went to Your Wedding,” “Fraulein,” “Eternally,” “Carmelita,” “Wooden Heart,” among many others.
Wood would not live long enough to watch his biopic produced by EBC Films and Eagle Broadcasting Corporation titled “JukeBox King: The Life Story of Victor Wood” with Martin Escudero playing the titular role.
