GMA-7’s groundbreaking soap opera “My Husband’s Lover†topped the drama category of the 5th Golden Screen TV Awards on Friday night.
Aside from winning the award for Outstanding Original Drama Program, the gay-themed primetime series also swept the award-giving body’s four acting awards in the drama category: Carla Abellana was named best actress in a drama series while Dennis Trillo won best actor in a drama series.
The supporting actor and actress in a drama series awards went to Kevin Santos and Glydel Mercado.
Angel Aquino of the ABS-CBN drama “Apoy sa Dagat†tied for the best supporting actress award in a drama series with Glydel.
Given yearly by the Entertainment Press Society, the awards night was supposed to be held in November but the Entertainment Press Society decided to defer the holding of the awards night after a series of calamities struck the country, particularly typhoon Yolanda.
GMA-7 took home the Outstanding TV Network award after winning 28 out of the 50 awards given during the 5th Golden Screen TV Awards. ABS-CBN took home 24 awards, while TV5 took home two.
Special awardees were German Moreno (Gawad Dolphy Lifetime Achievement Award: Ulirang Alagad ng Sining), Tulfo brothers Erwin, Raffy and Ben were bestowed the Helen Vela Lifetime Achievement award for Broadcasting while Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista was recipient of the Helen Vela Lifetime Achievement Award in comedy.
Popular child star and Eat Bulaga mainstay Ryzza Mae Dizon was given a special recognition for being the youngest host on Philippine TV.
