Mr. Manhunt Int’l shrugs off dethronement move

CEBU, Philippines - Mr. Manhunt International 2012 June Macasaet remains positive he would retain his title amidst a dethronement move pushed by Prime Events Productions, the current franchise holder of Manhunt Philippines. The dethronement move followed after June’s failure to sign a contract for Prime. Prime management, in a statement, said that aside from stripping him off his crown, Macasaet will not be able to receive his remaining prizes.

Macasaet, during the press con initiated by Psalmstre New Placenta for Men of which he is the endorser, explained that he has nothing to do with Prime because Mervin Alvaran was the franchise holder when he joined the pageant last year. He added that his decision not to sign for Prime was due to his loyalty to Alvaran, whom he considers as his mentor and close friend. Macasaet is the first Filipino winner in the international male pageant.

Meanwhile, Alex Liu, founder of Manhunt International Organization, assured Macasaet that he is not going to lose his title. In a text message exchange, Liu clarified, “Prime has no right to dethrone you (Macasaet), and only Manhunt International Organization can do that. That (move) would embarrass them (Prime) and the whole organization.” Liu’s assurance only means that Macasaet still reigns as Mr. Manhunt International.

Since Macasaet’s victory in Thailand last year, he has been flooded with runway and print modeling offers here and abroad. The latest addition to his achievements is being the current endorser of New Placenta for Men.  It only shows that the dethronement move only gives positive results for him. “I consider this move a harassment. But I believe someone who is right can never be put down,” said Macasaet.

Jim Acosta, owner of New Placenta and a personal friend to Macasaet expressed, “No amount of harassment can take away the honor Junemac has given our country. Dethronement or not, we remain behind him.”

Acosta had helped Macasaet in his quest for the Manhunt International title last year. Asked why his company chose Macasaet to endorse New Placenta for Men, Acosta said, “Junemac exemplifies the man of today: relevant, confident and honestly respectable.”  (FREEMAN)
