Cesar Montano’s lawyer issues statement on Cesar-Sunshine case

We received, through email, a statement from Atty. Joel B. Ferrer, the counsel for Cesar Montano, regarding the case filed by Ms. Sunshine Cruz against her husband. The statement reads:

“The criminal complaint for violation of R.A. 9262 filed by Sunshine Cruz against my client, Cesar Montano, is a mere verbatim rehash of the petition for protection order earlier filed.  It must be recalled that the application for a Temporary Protection Order (TPO) was denied by the court last week though a hearing for the protection order is set on Aug. 15.

Be that as it may, my client vehemently denies the charges and prevarications leveled against him as contained in the complaint of Cruz.  We maintain that there is no truth whatsoever that my client abused Cruz whether physical or verbal.  The marital rape Cruz is alluding to is simply preposterous.

From what we know, my client was invited by Cruz to join her and their children for dinner on May 12, 2013, Mothers’ Day.  They had dinner at the Edsa Shangrila Hotel.  Thereafter Montano slept and stayed overnight at the present residence of Cruz.  He left the place the following day. The two even had exchanges of text messages of good nature belying any animosity between them several days after the Mothers’ Day celebration.

Relative to the custody of the children, it is actually the children’s preference that they stay at their family residence at Tivoli Royale. It is also worth mentioning that Cruz is at liberty to see them anytime whether at the Tivoli residence on in the school where the children go to every single day. It is Cruz’s expressed decision not to go probably due to her hectic work schedule.

We believe Cruz filed the cases against Montano to gain leverage in her fervent desire to seek an annulment of their marriage.  To this date Montano is exerting earnest effort to preserve their matrimonial bond especially for the sake of their children.”

We had fun at the second night of Gary Valenciano’s concert titled “Tuesdays with Gary” held at the Teatrino in Promenade in Greenhills. It was an ultimate musical throwback experience as Gary performed the songs he used to do when he has regular gigs at the Tavern on the Square, a popular intimate venue for concerts in the 80s. That was 30 years ago.

Since we were familiar with the songs, it became an even more enjoyable night of nostalgia. We’ve followed Gary V’s career since he started and we are proud to say we are a fan of the man and his talent.

The audience loved the concert because of the excellent repertoire but we sensed that the crowd like Gary’s OPM hits like Sana Maulit Muli, Di Bale Na Lang, Natutulog Ba Ang Diyos, and his teleserye theme songs medley which included Walang Kapalit, Hanggang Sa Dulo ng Walang Hanggan, and Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin.

The audience also went wild with the medley of  Stevie Wonder hits (Lately, Overjoyed, Knocks Me Off My Feet) and the Earth Wind and Fire medley (September, Let’s Groove Tonight, Reasons).

For his finale, Gary sang Spain (sorry we don’t know who popularized it). In his spiel, Gary sang that “Spain” as his audition piece for Sandra Chavez (his first manager in showbiz). With the way he sang “Spain,” it was a foregone conclusion that Sandra had to sign up the then 18-year-old aspiring singer. And the rest was history.

Veteran and award-winning director Toto Natividad believes that “Dugong Buhay” star Ejay Falcon’s fast transformation as an action star makes him deserving to be part of Philippine showbiz’s ‘action royalty.’

“Like our veteran actions stars, Ejay has a unique talent. If Binoe (Robin Padilla), Daboy (Rudy Fernandez), and the other big names have their thrones as action stars; I believe that Ejay deserves his own, especially that he is one of the actors who brought back the action genre into the consciousness of the viewers today,” said the director of ABS-CBN’s hit afternoon action-drama series.

Direk Toto has nothing but praises for Ejay. “Acting can be learned and developed. But Ejay’s gift—height, built, looks and strong charm—is very rare,” shared the “Dugong Buhay” director who created classic action films like “Utol,” “Alyas Pogi 2,” “Grepor Butch Belgica Story,” “Melencio Magat: Dugo Laban Dugo,” and “Wangbu.”

Meanwhile, with Direk Toto and Ejay’s top-rating Kapamilya Gold series, Victor (Ejay) continues to flare with so much anger towards the De Laras, especially with the murder of his close friend Trisha (Jed Montero).
