Zanjoe Marudo ready for marriage

Zanjoe Marudo is playing the father of child actress Andrea Brillantes in the remake of the 80’s hit drama series “Annaliza” which premieres on May 27, Monday on ABS-CBN’s primetime bida.

Aside from this, his launching flick titled “Bromance: My Brother’s Romance” is doing well at the box-office when it opened last Wednesday, warming the hearts of the people behind the project, most specially it’s director Wenn V. Deramas who gave us the blockbuster movie “Sisterakas.” Of course, Zanjoe is certainly happy with the outcome of his solo movie at the box-office. With its success, some people are asking whether Zanjoe would be ready to get married to his girlfriend Bea Alonzo?

“When I was asked if I am ready to have a family, I said gusto ko na pero sa loob, ready na ba ang damdamin ko? Marami naman aspeto ang pagpapa-pamilya. Hindi lang naman ako ang mag-isang gagawa noon. Siyempre may partner tayo at may mga bagay na kailangan kang paghandaan,” he said at the presscon of “Annaliza” last Thursday, May 16 held at 9501 Restaurant at the ABS-CBN’s ELJ Building.

But Zanjoe, whose girlfriend is actress Bea Alonzo, emotionally thinks he is ready for marriage. He also doesn’t believe he has to sacrifice any of the things that he is doing if he wants to get married.

“I am thankful that I am being given good jobs and projects which is apart from my personal life. Hindi naman nakakaapekto ang pagkakaroon ko ng girlfriend sa trabaho ko,” added the hunky Kapamilya actor.

Zanjoe played a dual role in his latest movie “Bromance: My Brother’s Romance” – as the macho Brando and the gay Brandy. Which of the two roles did his gf Bea liked?

“She likes Brandy because mas natural daw itong umarte kumpara dun sa character ko na lalaki. Mas natural siya umarte. Kasi siguro nga mas maganda ang portrayal ko kay Brandy kasi ang character na si Brando ay pa-macho. Eh hindi naman ako pa-macho. Siguro for Bea, mas okay ang portrayal ko as Brandy,” said Zanjoe.

Many are praising Zanjoe for his performance in the new flick from direk Wenn Deramas. “I just did what Direk Wenn told me. And with a butt exposure, that is the lucky charm,” added the Kapamilya hunk with a laugh.

“If you are Brandy and you had been hospitalized, you certainly would not be wearing something inside your hospital gown,” he said with a smile. “Pero I don’t have to do anything special when I have a butt exposure. I just do what my director asks me to do.  He would know if I should have a butt exposure or not. Basta lucky charm magpakita ng puwet.”

While Zanjoe is open to doing another gay role, he thinks it might be hard to do one again. “Minsan kasi madaling sabihin na you’d do it but if you are already there in the scene and it calls for a kissing scene with a man, parang nakakailang. Siguro kung smack lang pwede,” he said.

How does it feel that you were tapped by Direk Wenn to play the twin roles in “Bromance: My Brother’s Romance?”

“Of course, I was flattered when direk Wenn gave me the role but I didn’t think it would be a hit. I don’t know why they gave me such kind of a project. Kung naging hit ang movie, it’s probably because of the story. Plus Direk Wenn handled it and the people probably saw something in the trailer which they liked kaya they watched the movie,” he said.

“Direk Wenn doesn’t have to prove anything anymore. He has done a lot of blockbuster movies and top-rating drama shows on TV. I just wish na maging maganda ang resulta ng movie namin.”

Direk Wenn even praised Zanjoe’s work attitude, saying he’s a professional, masipag and delightful to work with.

“Kung tamad ang trabaho mo sa isang movie, makikita iyon ng mga tao. Maapektuhan ako if I won’t do my job well because ako naman ang lalabas doon at makikita ng mga tao, hindi si Direk Wenn. Kaya pagbutihan ko na, di ba? In fact, I am looking forward to doing another project with direk Wenn,” said Zanjoe.
