CEBU, Philippines — Cebu-based property developer Oakridge Realty Development Corp. is expanding its renewable-energy (RE) partnership with First Gen Corp. as it moves to install rooftop solar facilities at two of its Mandaue City properties.
Oakridge and First Gen signed an agreement Sept. 23 covering the installation of a 648-kilowatt-peak (kWp) rooftop solar facility at Mantlewood Town Center and the final implementation of a 405-kWp solar plant at Oakridge Business Park, the developer said.
The projects bring on-site renewable power generation to both properties as Oakridge seeks to reduce its carbon footprint, strengthen energy resilience and manage exposure to electricity-price volatility.
Mantlewood Town Center, a roughly 40,000-square-meter master-planned development, opened its first phase on July 30, 2026. The initial phase is anchored by Robinsons Supermarket and Clinica Prime, alongside retail and dining establishments.
“Our transition to renewable energy at Oakridge Business Park was an important step in reducing the environmental impact of our operations,” Oakridge President Anne Liu said. “As our developments grow, we want to continue finding practical ways to reduce our carbon footprint and integrate cleaner energy solutions into how we operate.”
The latest agreement builds on a relationship between Oakridge and First Gen that combines renewable-energy supply with energy-efficiency initiatives, including energy audits and remote energy-monitoring systems.
Oakridge Business Park became the first mixed-use property in Cebu to be fully powered by renewable energy, according to the company. The development has also introduced electric-vehicle charging stations and solar-powered charging stations for mobile devices.
Oakridge was among the early Cebu companies to participate in the government’s Retail Competition and Open Access (RCOA) program, allowing qualified electricity consumers to contract directly with power suppliers.
The shift toward on-site generation comes as electricity costs and supply reliability remain key considerations for businesses in the Philippines, particularly in Cebu and the wider Visayas region.
“We are proud of the sustainability milestones Oakridge has achieved,” said Mark Malabanan, vice president at First Gen Energy Solutions. “On-site solar facilities will not only help ORDC build energy resilience, but also better manage volatility in power costs.”
Oakridge Realty Development Corp. is the property-development arm of Cebu-based LH Paragon Group Inc., whose businesses include fashion retailer Golden ABC Inc., wood distributor Matimco Inc., healthcare and diagnostic services provider Clinica Prime, and food retailer Greentree Food Solutions.
First Gen is a major renewable-energy producer in the Philippines, with about 1,700 megawatts of generating capacity from 31 hydro, geothermal, solar and wind facilities.
