Restaurateur offers classy, easy-on-the-pocket dining

CEBU, Philippines — A Cebuano restaurateur is bullish on Cebu’s sophisticated dining market noting a significant growth of the middle class and affluent consumers.

Constantine “Stan” Tanchan, the owner of restaurant chain Choobi-Choobi and buffet restaurant brand Kogi-Q, ventures into steak and seafood house restaurant business called Angus Dan’s filling the need for more sophisticated dining options in Cebu.

Tanchan recently opened this latest restaurant brand located at Jasmine St. corner Orchid St. in Capitol site.

This upscale New York City inspired steak and seafood house serves creative fusion salad, appetizers while serving traditionally grilled steaks and seafood with a modern twist.

“The mission is to let the Cebuanos enjoy good food and getting their money’s worth,” he said adding that because Cebuanos now travel more often and are exposed to sophistication—including dining, steak and seafood houses like his, are seen to make good returns.

“Cebu’s economy is growing very well. Middle class is increasing,” added Tanchan.

Angus Dan’s signature steak is the garlic steak, 200 grams of US tenderloin. They also offer premium steaks—USDA choice Angus Ribeye, USDA choice Porterhouse steak and grilled Angus short ribs.

The 100-seat restaurant also serves a good variety of seafood such as the grilled swordfish belly, scallops, shrimps and lobsters among others.

It also features one function room that can accommodate 30 persons and a private meeting room for 12 persons.

Meanwhile, Tanchan said he is also expanding his branches of Choobi-Choobi, hitting the tourist-dense areas like Oslob.

Another Choobi-Choobi restaurant will be opened in Talisay City this year, to add to its over 30 branches in Cebu and other parts of Visayas and Mindanao. (FREEMAN)
