CEBU, Philippines — China’s four-star airline company, China Southern Airlines officially opened its thrice-a-week non-stop flight connecting Cebu to Guangzhou.
China Southern Airlines is the 6th Chinese airline company to enter the Mactan International Airport connecting eight destinations in mainland China to Cebu.
“With the Philippines’ friendlier ties with China, more Chinese tourists are coming to the Philippines,” said China Southern general manager Pan Feng.
The airline’s inaugural flight arrived in Mactan International Airport Tuesday afternoon bringing in Chinese tourists to Cebu.
According to Pan, its decision to mount a three times a week direct flight from Cebu to Guangzhou is also fueled by the growing demand from Chinese travelers to explore Cebu and its neighboring islands and provinces, Pan added.
“China Southern launched new route to Cebu-Guangzhou to develop tourism and trade and also to better serve the Philippines,” he added.
Guangzhou is the third largest city of China, next to Beijing and Shanghai. The city is known for its colonial-era and avant-garde architecture. It is also tagged as one of China’s tastiest cities with numerous traditional dim-sum eateries.
China Southern Airlines leaves Cebu every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 17:15 and arrive in Guangzhou at 20:25. The Guangzhou-Cebu flight is from 12:25 to 16:05.
China Southern Airline Co., Ltd. is a direct affiliate of China Southern Air Holding Company Ltd., which specializes in air transportation services.
