Motoring Highlights of 2014

It’s been another standout year for the Local Motoring. Progress has been seen in the form of numerous dealerships that have expanded to Cebu, bringing in an increasing variety of car models available to the ever growing market.  The motoring scene seems to be charging forward.

Here’s what caught my eye most over the past 12 months.

Vespa and Aprilia now in Cebu

The famous motorcycle brands Vespa and Aprilia invaded Cebu as the dealership, Grandstar Motors, opened BLIP Motors, a showroom and service center that showcases the best of what the Italian motorcycle brands have to offer.

The Iconic MINI open a dealership in Cebu

MINI, the world renowed British Brand expands to Cebu by opening a dealership in AS Fortuna Street, Mandaue City.

Cebu-Cordova Bridge

The groundbreaking may have been categorically fallen under 2015, but the official announcement was in 2014.

The proposed P17 Billion bridge project will link Cebu to Cordova and will include an express highway to the airport. This project is a joint venture agreement and a public-private partnership (PPP) with Metro Pacific Tollways Corp, a subsidiary of Manny Pangilinan’s Metro Pacific Investments Corp.

Ferrari dealership presence in Cebu

The Philippine dealership for Ferrari, Autostrada Motore, displayed their latest line of Ferrari cars in Shangrila Mactan, Cebu in an effort to expand the market in the south.

Volkswagen arrives

Iconic Dealership, Inc., the group that handles the German Brand in the Philippines, opened its second showroom and service center in the heart of Cebu City.

Mercedes Benz Comeback

The Premier German luxury automobile brand has finally made a comeback. Global Star Motors opens a dealership in the city after more than a decade of absence.

Major Oil Price Rollback

With World Crude Oil supply appearing to be over supplied,  Philippine oil companies have slashed down oil prices to record low.
