CEBU, Philippines - SM Supermalls and Philippine Star launched their joint project, “My Crafts†campaign on March 26 at the Northwing Atrium SM City Cebu.
Held in partnership with DTI, CITEM, and NCCA, the campaign aims to promote the best of Philippine craftsmanship through exhibitions and contests promoting the local crafts of each host city and celebrating these crafts through workshops and contests thereby providing opportunities for business and linkages.
Mallgoers had once more been taken to the best of Cebu’s craftsmanship when “My City, My SM, My Crafts†made a stop in SM City Cebu. Exhibitors include Sepa, Janice Minor, Bon-Ace Fashion Tools, Avatar, Ferimar, Co-Creative Studio, and Arden Classic. Their creations are housed inside the Craft House on display at The Northwing.
World-renowned furniture designer Kenneth Cobonpue was recognized by SM by giving him a Cebu-shaped inspired plaque. Cobonpue was recently named as the First Asian Designer of the Year by Maison Et Objet Paris. The awarding ceremony was held in Singapore.
Aside from the exhibit, the campaign also awarded the winners of the fashion-accessories making contest participated by 8 students from different universities in the city. The participants used all indigenous materials such as banig, recycled paper, shells, rock materials, among others. Three winners received SM Gift Certificates.
My City, My SM, My Crafts is on display until April 6 at the Northwing Atrium of SM City Cebu. (FREEMAN)
