CEBU, Philippines - Daimler Group Services Philippines, Inc. opened its new offices in the Cebu Business Park by hosting a business cocktail event with prime industry leaders both in Cebu and Manila, as well as local elected officials, members of the academe and representatives from the diplomatic community.
Aside from the inauguration and ribbon cutting ceremonies, the event was aimed at formally launching Daimler’s presence as an employer of choice in the country and strengthening its company branding proposition. Daimler Group Services Philippines, Inc., or DGSP for brevity, was set up in Cebu, Philippines in late 2011, as a wholly owned subsidiary of Daimler AG, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of premium cars, trucks and buses. The Daimler Group boasts of a diverse product portfolio but most formidable of which is Mercedes Benz, one of the leading automotive brands in the premium cars market segment and has pioneered technologies and innovation for the industry.
The event was graced by Hon. Hilario Davide, III, Governor of the Province of Cebu, Hon. Raul del Mar, Representative of the First District of Cebu City to the House of Representatives and Mr. Michael Hasper, Deputy Head of Mission and Charge’ d’ Affaires of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in the Philippines. Both were Guests of Honor and Ribbon Cutters. Daimler AG was represented by senior management in the Finance and Controlling Division of the Group, Mr. Klaus Eser, Mr. Wolfgang Kumpf, and Mr. Heiko Nitsche, DGSP President and Chief Executive Officer.
Also present were Mr. Benedict Hernandez, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Business Processing Association of the Philippines (BPAP), Dr. Guenter Matschuck, President of the German-Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GPCCI) and Dr. Bodo Goerlich, who sits in the Board for both the European Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines (ECCP) as well as GPCCI. Other noteworthy guests were members of the diplomatic community, including Mr. Christof Wegner, Commercial Counselor of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in the Philippines, Mr. Anton Perdices, Cebu Honorary Consul of the Embassy of the Government of Spain in the Philippines and Mr. Felix Ang, President of CATS Motors, official distributor of Mercedes Benz for the Philippines.
The short program consisted of messages reinforcing the importance of the presence of Daimler in Cebu, this being a pioneer in the mobility industry, as well as a bold look into its future and further growth.
