Feng shui, destiny science as business now booming

CEBU, Philippines - Ordinary individuals, once properly trained, can actually capitalize on feng shui and destiny science as a career path and a business opportunity as it could be acknowledged as a decent profession, a master said.

Wyson Chan, founder and chief trainer of the Academy of Destiny Science based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, said that feng shui practice has evolved as a worldwide trend as more Chinese and non-Chinese believers seek for such.

He admitted that even in the digital era, there is a growing interest and belief on feng shui particularly from non-Chinese believers.

“Findings in modern science are found to be similar with the findings in ancient times. This was the time when feng shui was brought into the international scene. A lot of things match that’s why they seek for us. Even multinational companies ask for feng shui advisory. It has been a trend worldwide,” he said.

He clarified that feng shui, although perceived to be religious and superstitious by many, is actually one of the ancient science.

He said that a feng shui practitioner could actually get a subjective earning from the said profession. In Singapore and Malaysia, he cited that a beginner can earn up to $3 000 to $5 000.

Chan further noted that even it could be identified as a profession, there is no official accreditation nor a benchmark to measure on how to be a master on Chinese metaphysics.

“Even in China, the government does not officially recognize feng shui as a profession. Unfortunately, we do not have a system. It is actually hard to implement as there are many school of thoughts on feng shui,” he stated.

He said that anyone can claim themselves as masters in feng shui and destiny science but the Academy of Destiny Science which Chan owns actually issues certificates of practice to graduates.

â€œWith or without the certificate, they can practice. What clients need to do is to ensure that the practitioner is trustworthy and knowledgeable, one that has genuine and profound knowledge and expertise on the profession,” he said.

He also said that those who participate in the training courses attend to know their destiny on their own. He added that about 80 percent of the students in his academy are non-practicing.

The Academy of Destiny Science in Kuala Lumpur started three years ago and had trained 200 to 300 students to date.

At present, Chan who was a former member of the corporate industry integrated his learnings from his corporate profession in educating destiny science and feng shui theory.

Together with Zi Wei Feng Shui Academy founder and grandmaster Ng Choon Phong, Chan will hold an intensive six-day course on Zi Wei Dou Shu in Cebu this September.

The practitioner course that is comprised of three modules will be scheduled for six days from September 8 to 11 and September 21 to 22.

Chan said that the mastery course that is composed of two modules will still be laid out, hopefully after the practitioner course.

Last August 25, Chan conducted a free three-hour preview class of the course at Parklane Hotel.

Loosely translated to Purple Star Astrology, the ancient study of Zi Wei Dou Shu was formerly an exclusive practice of Chinese emperors who used it as tool in reading destiny and the fate of kingdom and dynasty. Over the centuries, the practice has been brought closer to the common individuals by masters who wish to share their expertise in the Chinese calendar.

Zi Wei Dou Shu is a practice that interprets the specific occurrence of an event using a combination of astrology, Chinese constellation, the four pillars of destiny and the five elements. It interprets events by observing the interaction of stars, time and elements as shown on an individual’s Zi Wei birth chart.

Zi Wei Feng Shui, otherwise known as personalized feng shui, will also be tackled in the course. While basic feng shui emphasizes on the general environment, Zi Wei Feng Shui synchronizes it with the reading of a person’s birth chart.

Chan cited that such courses and seminars on Zi Wei Dou Shu are intended to embark the correct thinking on destiny science.

“A lot of people do not fully comprehend it. We want to deliver the correct signal and educate them. We hope to get more people practicing this ancient knowledge,” he said.

He added that the seminar workshop that was conducted in Cebu is the first in the Philippines and said that they may organize one in Manila possible within this year.

Chan also revealed that with the positive reception from Filipinos, they plan to put up an Academy of Destiny Science in the Philippines soon. — (FREEMAN)
