A widow cried profusely in front of the assembly when she confided that her oncologist told her that she had to stop taking her medication because it did not help in stopping the cancer cells to spread. She was totally devastated and downhearted hearing the bad news.
“I’m still young and have two children to take care of. I’m worried of what will happen to them when I’m no longer around. But, I still have a complete trust in the goodness and mercy of the Lord. I know that He’ll always be at my side and would not forsake me. Whatever happens I completely entrust myself to Him and my children,†she said.
There are moments in our life wherein we feel that the trials that we are confronted with are too much to bear. We feel that there is no hope or light at the end of the tunnel; that solutions are nowhere to be found. But no matter what, we must hang on because God’s help is always at bay and He does not forsake us because of His great love for us. We must not be like that man who fell into a cliff. Hanging on to a branch, he called the Lord and said, “ Lord if you are truly merciful, please help me in my predicament.†The Lord answered, “Release your hold on the branch.†The man indignantly said, “ Why should I? I might fall.â€.â€As Proverb 3:5-6 reveals, “Trust the Lord with all your heart, on your own intelligence rely not; In all your ways be mindful of Him, and He will make straight your path.â€
Along this line, an unknown writer shared his experience. He confided, “The Lord is good, a stronghold on the day of trouble. Everyone has had some form of trials and tribulations in their lifetime. I have personally encountered some very traumatic circumstances of trials in my life. I have endured terrible, terrible attacks from the enemy, but throughout all my trials, I had hanged on to the Word of God, His promises and reassurances. He reminds me to be strong and have no fear for He promised that He will never leave me nor will He forsake me and I trusted Him.â€
He added, “One of the Scriptures that gave me tremendous strength is John 2:15-17. It says, “ Do not love the world or the things of the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, sensual, lust, enticement for the eyes and a pretentious life, is not from the Father but is from the world. Yet the world and its enticement are passing away. But whoever does the will of God remains forever.â€
Finally he said, “Isaiah 17 has given me more strength. It declares, “No weapon fashioned against you shall prevail; every tongue shall prove false that launches an accusation against you. This is the lot of the servants of the Lord, their vindication from me, says the Lord.†Therefore, I firmly affirm and declare every day, that no words spoken about me, whether intentionally or unintentionally shall have no effect, shall have no power over my life.â€
I, for one, believes that no matter what trials that may have crossed our path, there’s nothing like having a strong faith in the goodness of the Lord. That there’s always a solution to every twist and turns in life. What is important is that we have to be patient when our prayers are not answered so soon. Remember that God’s time is not our time; God’s calendar is not our calendar. God’s answer may come in this manner, “Yesâ€, “Noâ€, or “ Wait.†As what an unknown writer said, “Good things happen to those who wait.â€
