MANILA, Philippines — Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas president Al Panlilio and surfing federation chief Dr. Jose Raul Canlas stressed their commitment to run as first vice president and treasurer, respectively, under incumbent Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) president Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino’s ticket.

“I’m committed only to Philippine sports, to the Filipino athletes and to the leadership of Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino,” said Panlilio, the current POC first vice president.

Canlas, head of the United Philippine Surfing Association, said his commitment echoes that of Panlilio.

Tolentino is seeking another four-year or Olympic cycle term as POC president in the elections set Nov. 29 at the East Ocean Seafood Restaurant.

Baseball association president Chito Loyzaga filed his candidacy for president and included Panlilio also as his first vice president and Canlas as treasurer.

Panlilio and Canlas said they turned down offers to join Loyzaga but were surprised to see their names in the former PSC commissioner’s ticket.
