MANILA, Philippines — Philippine sports has lost one of its prized athletes.
The Philippine Sports Commission and the Philippine Underwater Hockey Confederation, in separate Facebook posts, confirmed the death of national underwater hockey player Johanna Uy.
Uy, 40, died in a fire which engulfed their house in Barangay Mariana, Quezon City Wednesday. The Bureau of Fire Protection said Uy’s mother, Helen Uy, 67, also perished in the fire.
