MANILA, Philippines — Philippine Paralympic Committee (PPC) president Michael Barredo said the 11th Hanoi ASEAN Para Games could still be salvaged if delegated to a country that is willing to host it even with a small number of events to be played.
“Malaysia and Indonesia are interested in hosting,” said Barredo.
Reports of the biennial meet’s cancellation was revealed by Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) president Abraham Tolentino a few days back, but Barredo said they expect Vietnam to make an official announcement anytime this week.
If it is eventually called off, it will mark the second time it was scratched after the Manila edition did not push through last year due to the pandemic.
