Inside the bubble
SMART CLARK GIGA CITY, Pampanga, Philippines — As good as he is in racking up points on the board, Barangay Ginebra ace Stanley Pringle is a wonder in playing piano.
The dazzling guard has been on fire in the bubble averaging 19.6 points (on a 50-percent shooting), 5.3 rebounds and 3.5 assists in the games at the AUF Gym Powered by Smart 5G.
Back at the Quest Hotel during free time, he’s as cool and calm as he can get in showing his musical gift.
“My sister used to do a lot of music. I learned when I was about five years old,” Pringle, who owns an electric keyboard at home, told The STAR.
One morning here, the San Diego, California standout jumped on the huge, elegant piano at the Meqeni Lounge much to the surprise and delight of teammates Joe Devance, Jared Dillinger and Prince Caperal.
Like a sweet finger roll off a crossover in transition, Pringle flicked through the keyboard a groovy music.
He’s a baller. He’s a pianist. As they call him, Stan is The Man.

JR Quinahan, Jericho Cruz, Paul Varilla and Will McAloney of NLEX, Raymar Jose of Meralco and KG Canaleta of Blackwater face possible sanctions for different violations.
Quinahan and McAloney were both whistled for flagrant foul penalty one (FFP1) in separate occasions against TNT Tropang Giga’s Bobby Ray Parks while Cruz and Varilla committed their own infractions seen during a video review.
Meanwhile, Jose and Canaleta are in hot water after a near fight towards the end of the Meralco-Blackwater match Wednesday.
The veteran big man Quinahan was among the first players who have been penalized last month along with Alaska’s Rodney Brondial and TNT’s Poy Erram, due to FFP1 infractions.
The other day, Terrafirma’s Jeepy Faundo (upgraded to FFP1) and Juami Tiongson (technical foul) with Brondial (2 technical fouls) were meted fines.
