MANILA, Philippines — Reigning champion Petron looks to reassert its mastery of Generika-Ayala in their rematch at the start of the Philippine Superliga All-Filipino Conference second round today at the Bacoor Strike Gym in Cavite.
Sporting a league-second best 6-1 slate just behind unbeaten rival F2 Logistics (7-0), the Blaze Spikers enter the 7 p.m. duel looking to mirror their three-set win over the Lifesavers in the first round.
In the 4:15 p.m. curtain-raiser, streaking Foton (4-3) looks to get its run going when it battles the skidding Sta. Lucia (1-6).
A week ago, Petron put an end to the four-game winning streak of then red-hot Generika-Ayala, 25-18, 25-12, 25-16. And after the win over the Lifesavers, the Blaze Spikers notched a fitting follow-up with another three-set win against Sta. Lucia last Saturday for their fourth straight victory.
Needless to say, the Blaze Spikers brim with confidence heading into the rematch with the Lifesavers.
Skipper Ces Molina and hitters Remy Palma, Mika Reyes, Aiza Manzo-Pontillas, Bernadeth Pons and Sisi Rondina are tasked to lead the charge anew for the wards of head coach Shaq delos Santos.
