MANILA, Philippines — Rafael Aoyong pooled 80 Molave points while Mafy Singson assembled a 103 as they ruled their respective divisions to lead the winners in the inaugural Fil-Am Jungolf Invitational at Camp John Hay and Baguio Country Club courses Tuesday.
Aoyong fired 41 points at John Hay then added a 39 at the short but tricky BCC layout to beat Anthony Garcia II by five in Fil-A division (17-18 years old) of the tournament held as part of the Fil-Am foundation’s commitment to help develop young golfers for future national teams.
Garcia shot 37 and 38 at CJH and BCC, respectively, for a 75.
Singson, a member of Team The Country Club, matched Laurea Duque’s 54-point effort at John Hay but shot a 49 at BCC against the latter’s 43 to claim the Fil-B crown (15-16) with a 103 in the 36-hole tournament which drew close to 100 young players from all over the country.
