MANILA, Philippines — With eight months to go before the 30th Southeast Games to be held in the country, key Philippine sports officials recently gathered for a pep rally at the historic Rizal Memorial Complex in Manila.
In front of the national athletes and coaches, Philippine SEA Games Organizing Committee (PHISGOC) chairman Alan Peter Cayetano, PSC Chairman Butch Ramirez and Chef de mission Monsour del Rosario assured and committed their full support through the “Go Pilipinas Go” campaign.
Officials from Philippine Sports Commission, Philippine Olympic Committee, Philippine Sports Association for the Differently-Abled Inc (PHISPADA) and leaders from different national sports associations also graced the event.
The campaign aims to raise awareness for the biennial sports meet set to be held in the country for the fourth time, the first being in 1981, then 1991 and 2005.
“We want to make the 30th SEA Games the biggest and best ever. Number one, we have to win. We have to work harder and give whatever you need in training and competition. Number two, we want the other 10 countries to say na iba talaga mag-host ang Pilipino,” said Cayetano.
The Philippines was the overall champion in 2005 when it last hosted the event.
