Cargo Movers, Blaze Spikers clash in Game One

MANILA, Philippines — F2 Logistics and Petron slug it out in what promises to be another fierce showdown of powerhouse teams in the Chooks to Go-Philippine Superliga Finals with the former seeking a repeat and the latter itching for a payback.

At stake is no less than the Grand Prix crown, which the Cargo Movers seized after rallying from 0-1 down and beating the Blaze Spikers in three last year.

“The mindset of the players is to defend the title,” said F2 Logistics coach Arnold Laniog. “I told them that they are the reigning champions and everybody is out to beat them. So they have to show up prepared and ready to win because their pride as defending champions is at stake.”

But the Blaze Spikers are out to get back at their tormentors, who also ripped them in the recent elims.

“We will do everything. F2 (Logistics) is a very talented team. They’re strong and aggressive. The big challenge for us is what happened last year. This is a new opportunity and we’re accepting this challenge to, hopefully, win the title,” said Petron mentor Shaq delos Santos.

Game One of the best-of-three series is set at 7 p.m. at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
