MANILA, Philippines – Ara Galang said it will be a dream come true if she gets to play with her former La Salle teammates at F2 Logistics.
Wish granted.
Galang, who was a vital cog in La Salle's UAAP title conquest of bitter rival Ateneo early this month, was picked first overall by F2 Logistics in Friday's Philippine Super Liga (PSL) rookie draft at the Music Hall of the SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City.
Galang will thus join La Salle teammates Abi Marano, Mika Reyes, Kim Fajardo, Cyd Demecillo, Kim Dy, Majoy Baron and Dawn Macandili and coach Ramil de Jesus at F2 Logistics, a team that should be a legitimate title contender with its prized acquisition.
"I'm happy to join my La Salle teammates at F2 Logistics," said Galang.
Interestingly, RC Cola-Army was supposed to pick first in the original draft order released by the PSL.
But there was a complete change order come draft day that gave F2 Logistics the No. 1 pick.
"The team owners and the PSL decided last night (Thursday)," said RC Cola-Army coach Kungfu Reyes.
Curiously, RC Cola, which slid to the eighth and last pick, didn't pick any player and passed, citing they are already loaded with talents headed by Jovelyn Gonzaga, Tina Salak, Rachel Anne Daquis and Honey Royse Tubino among others.
Petron was awarded the second pick and exercised it on former Arellano U standout CJ Rosario while Amy's Kitchen-Perpetual Help, Generika, Cignal, Foton and Navy Standard-Insurance tabbed Renelyn Raterta, Gen Casugod, Mary Grace Berte, Dana Henson and Jonah Sabete, respectively.
