Bacolod runners dominate Dinagyang half-marathon

MANILA, Philippines - Jason Agravante and Jennylyn Nobleza made it an all-Bacolod show by ruling yesterday the sixth Iloilo Dinagyang 21K run, part of the Dinagyang celebration which ends today.

Agravante crossed the finish line in one hour, 12 minutes, 10 seconds. He was closely followed by Romulo Balinas of Bacolod (1:13:48) and Emmanuel Comendador of Bohol (1:15:28).

Nobleza took the distaff side in 1:42:35, followed by Gella Mayang of Bacolod (1:45:14) and Weng Chang (1:47:34).

The event drew 150 elite runners in the open and 40 years and above categories and over 1,000 runners in the 5K run.

Other winners were (men, 40-above) Jarloc Reynold 1:23:07, Elmer Subredo 1:23:20, Jorge Sepida 1:24:11; (women, 40-above) Lorena Demontano 1:44:34, Felie Mae Acosta 2:10:48, Jeanevel Malayan 2:13:58.

The top three finishers received cash prizes, medals, shirts and certificates of finish during the awards ceremonies graced by Iloilo Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog and Vice-Mayor Joe Espinosa III, chairman of the Iloilo City Sports Council.

The yearly event was supported by the Iloilo City’s partners , including Globe, SM City Iloilo, Gatorade and local media partners The Daily Guardian, RMN and ABS CBN Iloilo.
