3 p.m. – BFP vs NHA
4:30 p.m. – AFP vs PNP
MANILA, Philippines – Foiled the last time out, Armed Forces of the Philippines tries again to secure the second and last outright semis berth when it battles Philippine National Police (PNP) tomorrow in the fourth UNTV Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.
Gametime is set at 4:30 p.m. with the AFP Cavaliers out to rebound from a stinging 76-96 blowout to the National Housing Authority (NHA) Builders last week.
AFP’s defeat – its second in eight games – gave the PNP Responders and the Bureau of Fire Prevention Firefighters the chance to force a playoff for the second outright semis berth.
Both PNP and BFP tote 5-3 cards.
Unlike AFP, the PNP Responders are coming off a morale-boosting 68-66 win over Judiciary – thanks to the 27-point performance of former University of the East guard Ollan Omiping.
The Builders clash with the Firefighters at 3 p.m. with the former hoping to ride the momentum of their big win over the Cavaliers to advance to the quarterfinals.
Expected to lead NHA is Tony Lustestica who erupted for 29 points in the team’s lopsided win over AFP.
Former Letran star Boyet Bautista and Eugene Tan are expected to spearhead AFP’s assault against the Responders.
