Golden State Warriors thank Filipino fans for Facebook milestone

MANILA, Philippines – It's the NBA's best team giving credit where it's due.

The Golden State Warriors, through its official Facebook account, acknowledged the support that many Filipinos around the world have showered them.

Posted at around lunch time in the Philippines, the Warriors unveiled a composite image of the national flag with the 33-3 Warriors' team logo emblazoned on the sun.

The Warriors, who are gunning to overcome the 1995-1996 Chicago Bulls' NBA season run of 72 wins to 10 losses, have been generating buzz since the 2015-16 season's tipoff.

Led by the reigning Most Valuable Player Stephen Curry, the Blue and Gold  won 24 straight wins to start the regular season. They fell to the Milwaukee Bucks Dec. 14 in Manila.

The Warriors, who revived the use of small-man lineupe for a fast-paced brand of basketball won 28 consecutive games after losing to the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 3 of the 2015 NBA finals. They went on to take home the championship after three more games.

Having roughly 5.6 million followers on Facebook, the famed ball club is a betting favorite to win this year's NBA championship series.
