MANILA, Philippines - NCAA champion San Beda College and Xavier School posted impressive victories for the second straight day to roll into the quarterfinal round of the fourth Philippine Secondary Schools Basketball Championships (PSSBC) Jumbo Plastic Linoleum Cup at the San Beda Gym in Manila over the weekend.
The Red Cubs, who have dominated the NCAA the last seven years, clobbered the University of Santo Tomas Tiger Cubs, 89-72, to complete a two-game sweep of Group D elims following their 88-74 romp over former champion Hope Christian High School last Saturday.
In a follow up to their thrilling 84-81 win over the Arellano U Braves, the NCAA runners up, the Xavier Stallions trounced the Far Eastern University Baby Tamaraws, 74-64, behind another awesome shooting by Tyler Tio.
